Braised Beef

Equipment: large pan or pot, lid


Ingredients:

  • Beef chuck, boneless: 3 lbs
  • Onions, peeled, diced: 1 large onion
  • Garlic, minced: 2 cloves
  • Olive oil: 6 tbsp
  • Salt: 2 tsp
  • Black pepper: 1 tsp
  • Water: 1/4 cup

Directions:

  1. Cut the beef into pieces.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan over high heat. Brown the beef pieces. Then, remove them and set aside.
  3. Cook the onions in the same pan until translucent.
  4. In a large pan or pot, layer half of the browned beef pieces, salt, and black pepper with half of the sautéed onions and garlic. 
  5. Repeat step 4 to create a second layer.
  6. Add the water to the meat and place the lid on top. Place the pan or pot onto the cooktop and bring it to a boil. Cook until the meat is fully cooked through.
