Umami Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 1 container of sliced shiitake mushrooms  
  • 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil 
  • 2 tablespoons of beef bone broth  
  • ¼ teaspoon Trader Joe’s umami spice blend 
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional) 

Directions:

  1. Heat up a frying pan and add extra virgin olive oil.  
  2. Add mushrooms to the pan and sauté for 2 mins on medium heat.  
  3. Add beef bone broth, coconut aminos, and umami spice and sauté for a few more minutes.  
  4. Once cooked, garnish with red pepper flakes and enjoy! 

Variations:

  • Use avocado oil in place of extra virgin olive oil.  
  • Use vegetable broth instead of beef bone broth to make the dish plant-based.  

Notes:

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. 
  • Reheat in the microwave for 30 seconds. 

Nutrition Notes:

  • Mushrooms are a good source of B vitamins. 
  •  Extra virgin olive oil is an excellent source of polyphenols.  
  • Beef bone broth is a great source of glycine and collagen.
