Live Well, Stress Less Challenge

The Live Well, Stress Less Challenge is a wellness challenge open to all in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month that encourages and supports USC faculty and staff in adopting health-promoting practices related to mental health and well-being.

The challenge’s activities fall under four themes: stress management, confronting burnout, work-life balance, and workplace relationships.

Complete as many mental health and well-being activities as you can (from the activity list provided or come up with your own), and fill out your challenge calendar.

Email your calendar to sanhuynh@usc.edu by June 3, 2022 to be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a variety of health-related prizes.

Crisis Text Line

The Crisis Text hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and connects people with a crisis counselor who can provide support and information. Text “HELLO” to 741741.

USC WorkWell Center

The WorkWell Center (formerly the Center for Work and Family Life) provides confidential, no-cost counseling by licensed providers for personal and work-related concerns. Staff are highly skilled in the areas of crisis intervention, high-risk personal and work circumstances, stress management, self-care, and ways to improve faculty and staff health and well-being in the workplace. LifeWorks for USC

LifeWorks is a free online and app-based platform that offers digital resources and confidential counseling to support health and well-being to benefits-eligible faculty and staff. LifeWorks also provides up to five free sessions of confidential counseling. Learn more by going to https://usc.lifeworks.com and entering username “USC” and password “workwell,” or by calling LifeWorks 24/7 at 855-399-7353.

Mental Well-being Review

Faculty and staff can complete a Mental Well-being Review through Vitality. This is a series of three questionnaires that help you assess and manage your emotional health and mental well-being. Based on your responses, you’ll be provided a personalized profile and some recommendations to help you improve your overall mental well-being. (The review is available to benefits-eligible faculty and staff who work at least 50% FTE, excluding Verdugo Hills and Las Vegas employees).

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)

NIMH is the lead federal agency for research on mental disorders, offers basic information on mental health wellness, a range of related topics, and the latest mental health research.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

A free, confidential crisis service that is available to everyone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Lifeline connects people to the nearest crisis center in the Lifeline national network.
